Bergeron VC initiative hires Goldman Sachs man
Quinteros joins fintech investment venture
The US$500m financial technology venture capital fund set up by former VeriFone CEO Doug Bergeron and GTRC, has appointed Julio Quinteros as senior VP of corporate development.
Quinteros joins Opus Global from Goldman Sachs, where he has worked for the last 15 years as an equity analyst, most recently leading the IT Services research effort, where his coverage included fintech firms in areas such as POS technologies, acquirers, prepaid, and payment processors.
GTRC has committed US$450m to Opus Global, with Bergeron chipping in another US$50m. The fund has promised to invest in companies ranging from smaller, entrepreneurial businesses to multibillion-dollar enterprises.
Quinteros commented: “This is an exciting time in the evolution of the financial technologies landscape with the convergence of data, point-of-sale, consumer-led technologies, and regulatory requirements forcing a revamp of industry value chains and market approach.
“While many companies are working to establish their footprints or redesign existing business models, I believe that we are still in the early rounds of this evolution and look forward to working with Doug and the team at GTCR in helping identify and create a global financial technology platform that will benefit from the transformation of the industry.”
